One-to-one Bible Reading
We suggest one of these three options:
These concepts are taken from David Helm’s book entitled, One-to-one Bible Reading: A Simple Guide for Every Christian .
The Simple Method
As you read a passage of Scripture, note three things:
LIGHTBULB
What strikes you or draws your attention?
QUESTION
What is hard to understand or makes you want to study?
ARROW
How does this apply to me? What will I do with this?
Share what you wrote for each one and discuss in turn. Pray together and for each other.

8 Weeks in Mark
This study takes 8 passages from the Gospel of Mark and provides specific questions for each passage. The point of this study is to introduce Jesus and the Gospel and is great for an evangelistic one-to-one reading with an unsaved friend. It’s also good for a young Christian.
Share your answers to the study questions and discuss in turn. Pray together and for each other.

The COMA Method
As you read a passage of Scripture, ask questions around four topics: Context, Observation, Meaning, Application
CONTEXT
- What kind of writing is this?
- What are the circumstances?
- What do we learn about the author and the readers?
- What has been said leading up to this?
OBSERVATION
- What is the main point?
- Are there major breaks or subsections?
- Key words?
- Any surprises?
MEANING
- How does this passage relate to the rest of the book?
- What do we learn about God?
- What do we learn about Jesus?
- How would I sum this up in my own words?
APPLICATION
- How does this passage challenge my understanding?
- Do I need to change an attitude or action?
- What will I commit to do?
Share what you wrote for each one and discuss in turn. Pray together and for each other.
